How does what you do as a TPA differ from my MCO (managed care organization)?
As a TPA, we are contracted to work for YOU, not the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC). We save you time by managing claims and handling administrative tasks, attending your hearings and, most importantly, helping to SAVE YOU MONEY. We access BWC-sponsored discount programs, such as Group Rating and Group Retrospective Rating, to reduce your premium.
MCOs contract with the BWC to medically manage workplace injuries. In Ohio, unless you are self-insured, you are required to have an MCO, but a TPA is optional. The BWC is the exclusive provider of workers’ compensation insurance and pays the MCOs using a portion of the insurance premiums paid by employers.
How much money can I save?
The highest discount program currently offered by the BWC can provide a 53% reduction in your premiums. However, it’s not just the direct savings in your premium, you also save on labor costs because our experts will manage your claims, which can get complicated quickly.
